Trisha Sewell; you know her, you love her and who could blame you! Lancaster Lindy Circle Committee are thrilled that she is coming back to Lancaster to deliver SUGA BOMB DISCOVERY!
What exactly is Suga Bomb?
Suga Bomb is Trisha’s boot camp follow workshop! Followers need to be encouraged to express their own personal individuality as a dancer. The curriculum promotes self-analysis, self-expression and experimentation without creative boundaries. We gain inspiration from other follow dancers (old and new) but understand the value in being different. It is aimed at providing followers with a strong understanding of the required skills on which to develop their individual dance style and be an amazing follower.
Please note, this workshop is aimed at anyone who enjoys or has some experience in following, regardless of gender or primary dance role. We would love to see those who consider leading their primary role join us!
What we will learn?
How to become a ‘Dynamic Follower’, one that every leader wants to dance with, and how to be fabulously stylish and feel great doing it!
You will learn about ‘Body awareness’ through Posture, Tone, Energy and Direction.
You will learn basic ‘leading skills’ to help understand your role within the dancing relationship and how to make things work wonderfully.
You will look at making the most of what you have, exploring how we can practice body movement and exercises on our own in order to facilitate change and make improvement.
We will work on exercises and movements, such as the swing out and move variations so that we understand how all these elements fit together to enhance your dancing!
If you came to last year’s Suga Bomb Lancaster, Trisha has plenty of new concepts and techniques to challenge you!
Trisha has a lifetime’s worth of experience to share with us – she will work us hard, so come prepared for a mental and physical workout, but we’ll leave on Sunday evening with all sorts of skills to make us better at following and to help us find our own unique voice.
Our daytime venue will open on Saturday at 11:45 for registration, ready for class to start at 12:00. There will be two hours of classes, a break and then a further two hours of classes. We’ll start at 11am on Sunday, for another four hours worth of class.
On Saturday evening (different venue) we will host a Funk and Soul Party, from 19:30. No doubt some of our swing favourites will find their way into the mix as well!
Full weekend tickets available for £70, this event’s content is progressive, to get the most out of the weekend you will want to attend for the full weekend. However, if there is demand, and venue space, we may introduce a limited number of single day tickets for £35 per day.
Whilst we don’t need to worry about lead/follow ratios this time (hurrah!) there are a limited number of tickets available to keep class size manageable.
Anyone with a filled LLC loyalty card can exchange this for a special member discount by contacting one of the committee - if you want to book online we will give you your own unique discount code!
This workshop is open to improver dancers and above. You should be comfortable with 8-count basics, 6-count basics and swing outs. You will get the most out of this workshop if you have been taking lessons as a follow for 6 months or more. LLC members, we recommend that you have completed at least all of our beginners blocks and have been social dancing regularly for a few months.
Classes on the Saturday and Sunday will be held at Our Lady’s Catholic College, Morecambe Road, Lancaster LA1 2RX. This is about 20 mins walk from Lancaster Train Station and 10 mins walk from the Bus Station. There is free parking available at the venue.
Venue for our Saturday evening gathering is the Boot and Shoe, 171 Scotforth Road, Lancaster LA1 4PU. This is on all major bus routes and has plenty of free on street parking nearby.
