We’ll be bringing in several instructors to teach us the dances that paved the way to the Blues we know today. Joining us this year will be: nationally renowned dance historian, Richard Powers; one of the foremost authorities on blues idiom dance, Damon Stone; and our local blues knowledge bases, Brenda Russell and Rachel Stirling.
In the evenings, a number of local musicians will play us the music of blues past. Kevin Selfe and the Tornadoes will be kicking the off party Friday night, Saturday night we welcome Heavy Sugar feat. Satellite Malone, and Black Swan feat. Marilyn Keller will round us off on Sunday night. Stay tuned for announcements on our late night solo musicians!
We will be providing snacks all day, late night meals, and the lounge bar will be open in the evening for several hours each night. Note: the Lounge and event spaces are all ages, though there will be alcoholic drinks for purchase at the bar - please be responsible (and bring ID) if you would like to drink.
This year we are using a sliding scale for passes! Please pay in the upper bracket of what you can afford, as we only are able to provide so many lower income passes. Payment is through Stripe or Dwolla, our preference is Dwolla. If neither work for you, please contact us and we can arrange another form of payment.
All of our scholarships and volunteer positions have now been filled. Thanks!
Don’t forget to apply for housing if you are able to host some of our awesome guests, or will be needing a place to rest your head! Sleep is slightly important if one wants to last through the whole weekend.
